Editorial Policy & Research Standards
How we evaluate software, verify technical capabilities, handle artificial intelligence, and correct errors.
1. Our Editorial Philosophy
At Practical AI Desk, our sole obligation is to the small business owner, solopreneur, or freelance professional who relies on our research. Navigating business technology requires accurate, hype-free assessments of what software can realistically accomplish today.
2. Hands-On Software Testing Standards
When reviewing or recommending software tools, our team adheres to four standardized evaluation benchmarks:
- Time to First Value: How quickly can a non-technical solo operator set up the tool and produce a usable outcome?
- Total Cost of Ownership: Does the advertised price include necessary features, or are essential capabilities locked behind expensive enterprise add-ons?
- Data Governance & Security: Does the vendor explicitly state whether user inputs and client proprietary data are excluded from model training?
- Workflow Continuity: If the service goes offline or is discontinued, can the user export their project data cleanly?
3. Transparency on AI Use in Content Production
As a publication covering artificial intelligence, we believe in full transparency regarding our own editorial processes:
- Human Accountability: Every published guide, tutorial, and comparison matrix is planned, reviewed, and fact-checked by human editors before distribution.
- No Synthetic Reviews: We never generate synthetic user reviews, automated sentiment scores, or fake customer testimonials.
- Draft Verification: Research templates and sample drafts are clearly labeled until primary hands-on verification has been completed.
4. Zero Hype and No Exaggerated Income Claims
We do not publish articles claiming that AI tools will "make you \$10,000/month passively" or "replace your entire team overnight." We focus strictly on operational leverage: saving 3 to 10 hours a week on administrative, writing, and client communication tasks.
5. Corrections and Updates Policy
Because cloud software evolves continuously, we conduct periodic reviews of our published guides. When a vendor updates their pricing tiers, changes token caps, or alters feature availability, we update the corresponding article and note the revised date at the top of the post.
If you identify an error, broken link, or outdated pricing table in any of our guides, please notify us directly at editor@practicalaidesk.example.com.
